Xinaps Fire Safety Assessor Plugin follows the following NFPA codes and standards


Where the plugin is able to check for the following as per NFPA 101B:

  1. Egress time.
    • The egress time in the Xinaps Fire Safety Assessor is the RSET (Require Safe Egress Time) time which is the total time taken from the point of indecent to the completed evacuation (alarm time + response time + travel time). Where the ASET > RSET x the safety factor, (where the safety factor is 2, as per section A.5.15.9.1). 
    • Where in NFPA 101, 2012, Life Safety Code, occupants must be able to escape to a safe place, directly or through a protected exit, before untenable conditions are reached during a fire emergency.
  2. Maximum compartment size and length.
    • Where in section (5.14.4.2), the maximum area of a compartment, including the aggregated area of all floors having a common space shall not exceed 2800 m2 (30,000 ft2), where the length or width of the building exceeds 91 m (300 ft).
  3. Egress paths.
    • Where in section (3.3.12.7), a building must have a system that conveys the egress path either through visual or audio distractions or an intentionally confounded egress path.
  4. Minimum fire exit door widths
    • Where in section (5.2.1.2.3), the door openings in means of egress shall not be less than 810 mm (32 in).
  5. Exit access corridors
    • Where in section (5.1.1.1), the corridors used for exit access must have a minimum one hour fire resistance rating while the doors have a minimum of twenty minute fire protection. 
  6. Direction of the opening of the door
    • Where in section (3.3.80), the direction of the emergency exit must be placed it opens itself in the direction of the egress travel. Although in section (5.2.1.4.1) any door in a means of egress shall either be a side-hinged or pivoted swinging type, where the swinging is capable from any position. Where in section (5.2.1.4.5) during the door swing shall not project more than 180 mm (7 in).
